Birth Trauma
The miracle of childbirth can be a beautiful and transformative experience, but for some, it can also be deeply distressing. Birth trauma refers to the emotional and psychological challenges that some individuals face during or after childbirth. It can result from various factors such as unexpected complications, medical interventions, feelings of powerlessness, or any situation that left you feeling overwhelmed or traumatized during this important life event.
I utilize EMDR and trauma informed cognitive behavioral therapy to work with mothers and birth partners, healing the effects of the trauma and building their resilience to find acceptance and growth.

NICU Parenting
When your baby is born prematurely or with health complications requiring NICU care, the journey can become emotionally overwhelming. NICU parenting can be a rollercoaster of emotions, and for many parents, it's experienced as a traumatic event. The sights and sounds of the NICU, the uncertainty of your baby's health, and the stress of separation can leave lasting emotional scars. Therapy during and after your baby’s NICU stay can help you process the experience and find helpful ways to cope with the emotions that accompany the NICU for parents.

Infant Loss
Losing a child is a pain that no parent should have to face alone. The grief and sorrow that follow the loss of a baby can be overwhelming and all-encompassing. My goal is to provide a safe and non-judgmental space where you can express your emotions, share your memories, and process your grief.

Secondary Trauma for Birth Workers
Secondary trauma, also referred to as vicarious trauma, occurs when healthcare professionals indirectly experience the emotional distress and trauma of their patients. For labor and delivery nurses and doulas, this can manifest as emotional exhaustion, anxiety, and even symptoms similar to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Witnessing difficult births, maternal complications, and infant health issues can take a toll on even the most resilient caregivers.
It’s okay to need support as a birth worker. I will help you unpack the emotions that emerge in the birthing space and process challenging births so that you can be present in all the areas of your life.
